SBMC-SIP set to strengthen Community contributions

By: Alhassan Hassan AbbaThe Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja Dr.Hamid Bobboyi has said School Based Management Committee-School Improvement Programme (SBMC –SIP) was set to strengthen community contribution in Public Primary and Junior Secondary schools.
Dr. Bobboyi said this at a Two-day cluster training for 2021/2022 SBMC-SIP project organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja in conjunction with the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Kano and held at SBMC hall SUBEB Headquarter.
The Executive Secretary added that the SBMC-SIP initiative was to strengthen community active participation in schools by providing support to the communities to be able to execute priority-based project in their respective areas, also to provide access, quality and equity in basic education delivery in Nigeria.He further said, the cluster training is a critical aspect of SBMC-SIP implementation aimed at building and enhancing the capacity of grass root project implementers to effective execute designated project in their domains as in line with the standards stipulated in the SBMC-SIP guiding lines.While
presenting award letters to the beneficiary’s schools for 2021/2022 SBMC-SIP project.
Dr. Bobboyi called on the beneficiaries schools to be transparence and accountability to justify the confidence repose on them by the community members.
Inher welcoming address, the acting Chairperson, Hajiya Amina Umar said, the training was aimed at training the SBMCs of beneficiaries schools on how to execute and implement their project in accordance with the guide line of the project, noted that 32 were selected were from 3 senatorial district of the state.
HajiyaAmina assured the commitment of the Board to supervise and monitor the implementation of the project to ensure that viable projects were executed according to its action plan approval.She also assured the UBEC Secretary, proper monitoring for the successful implementation of the project through regular visit to the site to oversee the conduct and quality of the project implemented.
In his remarks the state SBMC chairman Alh. Tijjani Abdullahi Baraya has described SBMC-SIP as a welcome development aimed at bringing together Government and community to execute project that would improve the standard of education in their respective areas.
Whilethanking UBEC and SUBEB on behalf of the beneficiaries schools, Baraya assured the redness of their members to continue contributing their best to the development of education at all time.
