FCT UBEB Launches Innovative Head-to-Head Debate Reality Show

The Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB) has kicked off the 2024 season three of its Head-to-Head Debate Reality Show for junior secondary schools in the FCT.
The initiative, brainchild of Dr. Alhassan Sule, Acting Executive Chairman of the Board, aims to address the issue of out-of-school children in the FCT.
Dr. Sule expressed his delight with the Head-to-Head approach, stating that it would help stimulate the interest of children yet to enroll in school. He emphasized that education is a strong index of development and that the platform would complement government efforts in taking children off the streets and back to school
Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department, FCTA, commended the initiative, noting that it would be more effective with student ambassadors.
She stressed the need to promote girl child education for a prosperous society.
The Chairman of the Head-to-Head program, Alhaji Kudu Dangana, appreciated the support of Dr. Ahmadu and urged learners to strive for excellence. Dr. Emmanuel Shuaibu, Director of Quality Assurance, stated that the selection of debaters was based on merit and that the program was a complete diversion from the normal debate.
The President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, FCT Chapter, Mr Bello Adam Gupa, commended the principals and teachers for their positive impact on the learners.
The preliminary stages of the competition commenced with 70 schools participating, and eight schools qualified for the Reality House.
