The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kano State Wing, has expressed profound appreciation to the Kano State Government for the successful payment of teachers’ promotion benefits across the state.
The commendation was delivered by the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, who described the development as a major milestone in boosting teachers’ morale and strengthening the education sector in Kano State.
According to Comrade Garko, the payment of promotion entitlements is not only a fulfillment of administrative responsibility but also a strong demonstration of the government’s commitment to fairness, motivation, and professional growth within the teaching profession.
He emphasized that promotion plays a critical role in enhancing productivity, improving job satisfaction, and encouraging dedication among teachers. “When teachers are promoted as at when due and their financial benefits are paid promptly, it renews their sense of belonging, improves commitment to duty, and ultimately enhances the quality of education delivered to pupils and students,” he stated.
The NUT Chairman further noted that timely promotion strengthens institutional stability within schools and encourages merit-based progression, which is essential for the long-term development of the education system.
Comrade Garko also reaffirmed the Union’s continued support for the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, particularly in its ongoing efforts to revitalize and reposition the education sector. He acknowledged the administration’s various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, providing learning materials, and enhancing teachers’ welfare.
He assured that teachers across the state remain committed to reciprocating the government’s gesture through improved dedication, professionalism, and delivery of quality education that will contribute meaningfully to the overall development of Kano State.
The Union therefore called on teachers to sustain their commitment to duty and continue to support policies and programs designed to uplift the standard of education in the state.
