Kano SUBEB Organizes Capacity Building Training for Model school Teachers

In a renewed effort to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in basic education, the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commenced a school-based training programme for model school teachers across the state.
The Executive Chairman of Kano SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, who was represented by the Director of Teacher Development, Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu, disclosed this during the opening session of the training held at the Special Training Program Center in Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso.
She noted that the training is part of the Board’s continuous professional development initiative aimed at building the capacity of teachers on effective lesson planning and delivery.
According to her, the objectives of the training are to train teachers on classroom management, literacy and numeracy, as well as to ensure general improvement in teaching and learning in public schools.
She further explained that the programme is funded by the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, adding that the training targets model school teachers selected from 100 schools across 25 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs).
The Director said the training is expected to last for five days, during which participants will be equipped with practical skills and strategies to enhance classroom performance and boost learning outcomes.

Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu emphasized that the goal of the training is not only to sharpen teachers’ instructional skills but also to improve learning outcomes among pupils in the state.
She commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to step down the knowledge gained to their colleagues for greater impact across schools.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his tireless efforts, commitment and for introducing impactful policies aimed at improving the education sector in the state.
