The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has intensified efforts to improve teaching and learning through a cascade training programme designed to strengthen teachers’ capacity for the effective implementation of the revised basic education curriculum.

The two-day training, organised by SUBEB Kano in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja, is currently taking place across six designated clusters: Bichi, Gezawa, Gwarzo, Kumbotso, Kura and Wudil, to broaden participation and facilitate the dissemination of knowledge among education personnel across the state.

The Executive Chairman of SUBEB Kano, Malam Yusuf Kabir, who was represented at the programme by the Director of Social Mobilisation, Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu, emphasised the importance of equipping teachers with the knowledge and instructional skills required to translate curriculum reforms into effective classroom practices.

She explained that the cascade approach would enable participants to transfer the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to other teachers, thereby promoting wider coverage and consistent implementation of the revised curriculum across Kano State.

Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu noted that the training was aimed at improving teachers’ understanding of the revised curriculum, strengthening instructional methods, promoting effective assessment techniques, and enhancing lesson planning and classroom delivery.

She stressed that the success of the revised curriculum would depend on teachers’ commitment to applying the knowledge gained, supported by continuous professional development and the active involvement of school administrators, education officers, parents, and other stakeholders.

The representative urged participants to take full advantage of the training and ensure that the knowledge acquired translates into improved teaching practices and better learning outcomes for pupils.

She further reaffirmed SUBEB Kano’s commitment to supporting the implementation process through continuous professional support, monitoring, and evaluation to identify challenges and strengthen the quality of basic education across the state.

The training reflects the continued collaboration between SUBEB Kano and UBEC to strengthen teachers’ professional capacity, improve curriculum delivery, and ensure that pupils across Kano State have access to quality basic education.
