The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kano State chapter, Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, has commended the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the recruitment of 7,688 new school teachers to strengthen the education sector in the state.

Comrade Garko made this known while congratulating the newly recruited teachers who were successful in the recent teachers’ recruitment aptitude test.

He described the development as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector.

He further noted that the recruitment of such a large number of teachers reflects the Governor’s determination to bridge the gap in teacher shortages across primary and junior secondary schools, while also improving the quality of teaching and learning in the state.

According to him, the employment of over 4,000 teachers on a permanent basis is a commendable step that deserves recognition, as it will boost morale and encourage sustained efforts toward educational development.

He also praised the Governor for prioritizing education through the provision of additional teachers, improvement of learning facilities, and the introduction of policies aimed at enhancing the overall standard of education in Kano State.

While addressing the newly recruited teachers, Comrade Garko urged them to demonstrate dedication, integrity, and commitment to their duties, stressing that such values are essential for career growth and job sustainability.

He also called on teachers recruited under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme to remain diligent and hardworking, noting that their performance would strengthen the Union’s efforts to advocate for their confirmation as permanent staff.

In conclusion, the NUT Chairman stated that based on available reports, Kano State is leading among the other states in Nigeria in terms of teacher recruitment, reaffirming the government’s resolve to make education a cornerstone of development.

He further urged other state governments to emulate the example set by Abba Kabir Yusuf in order to advance education across the country.
