The Association of Nigerian Primary Schools Head Teachers (AOPSHON), Kano State chapter, under the leadership of its State Chairman, Comrade Malam Abdussalam Sumaila, has commended the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the recruitment of 7,688 new school teachers.

In a statement issued by the Chairman, Malam Abdussalam Sumaila described the move as a clear demonstration of the state government’s strong commitment to improving the education sector, particularly at the primary school level.

He emphasized that the recruitment of such a significant number of teachers would greatly help in addressing the shortage of teaching staff in public schools, thereby enhancing the quality of teaching and learning across the state.

According to him, the employment of over 4,000 teachers on a permanent basis represents a major milestone that deserves commendation, as it ensures job security for teachers and strengthens the overall education system.

The association also praised the Governor for his continuous efforts in reforming the education sector through the provision of teaching materials, improvement of school environments, and implementation of sustainable policies.

Furthermore, the Chairman urged the newly recruited teachers to remain dedicated, disciplined, and committed to their responsibilities, stressing the importance of contributing positively to the future of pupils in the state.

He also called on teachers recruited under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme to intensify their efforts, noting that their performance would support the association’s advocacy for their confirmation as permanent staff.

In conclusion, AOPSHON noted that Kano State continues to serve as a model among Nigerian states in teacher recruitment and prioritization of education, and urged other states to emulate this approach to advance education nationwide.Kano State
