KNSG to Recruit 17,400 Security Personnel to Boost School Security

Governor Abba Kabir Yusif announced that his administration is set to recruit 17,400 security personnel to enhance security in basic education schools. He made this announcement at the flag-off and presentation of cheques to the Community Reorientation Committee (CRC) for the renovation of 440 classrooms across the state, held at the Coronation Hall, Government House.

The initiative aims to improve the security of students, teachers, and educational facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. Each Local Government Area will provide 400 security personnel, ensuring good representation from the local community, who have knowledge of the area and are acquainted with the local people

The Governor also revealed that his administration will soon embark on new construction projects, including additional classrooms and school fencing, to improve security and provide a conducive learning environment. He urged community members to take ownership of schools and support them.

Executive Chairman Malam Yusif Kabir commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusif for his commitment to reviving and transforming education, particularly in the basic education subsector. He noted that the government has recruited 5,632 new teachers to address teacher shortages, procured and distributed teaching and learning materials, and improved teacher development through training and retraining. The government has also prioritized teacher welfare, including prompt salary payment, implementation of backlog promotions, and provision of soft loans.

In their remarks, the Chairman of the School Based Management Committee (SBMC), Alhaji Tijjani Haladu Baraya, and the Chairman of the National Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, urged the Governor to consider recruiting additional security personnel and other support staff to enhance productivity in schools.”
